HTC has acknowledged that a software flaw on some of its Android phones means that they openly offer security credentials across the Wi-Fi networks they connect to. According to The Next Web, there would be nothing to stop someone harvesting the details to use in the future.

Day One is a Diary/Journal app that is as elegant as it is simple to use. Consider it a microblogging style of journal keeping. You pull up the app on your phone, hit the + sign and enter in a small bit of text about your life, hit save and your done. Right now, you can view your posts by entirety, by the calendar, or by starred items, but the developer is very active in updating the app and has announced several new features coming soon.

What makes this app great, is the inclusion of iCloud and Dropbox. You can only choose to use one at a time right now, but that shouldn’t be a big deal. Any posts you make will be synchronized across your devices and your Mac version of Day One. The Mac version has a couple more features than the iOS version, most notably a search function.

I am using this app to keep track of my daily activities, to track headaches and other kinds of situational experiences. Personally I switched away from using Springpad and over to DayOne. I am hoping that the developer will add some of the features from the Mac version for the iOS app to further enhance the experience.

I for one certainly feel that way. There are flaws in the product that need to be addressed.
The constant demand to plug in to your phone is the #1 reason that the product will become stale. Wireless syncing though a battery drain is a plain necessity in today’s world.
Sure you wear your band everywhere, but you have to take it off to charge sometimes will leave giant holes in your data collection. Quantified Self depends on the never ending amounts of data that you collect to be successful.
I’ll keep testing, but so far like a new year’s resolution… the UP band has worn out it’s welcome.
